Do I need a special permit to drive in Sri Lanka?

Yes. It is illegal to drive in Sri Lanka on a foreign licence alone. You must hold a temporary driving permit (recognition permit) issued by the Automobile Association of Ceylon (AA Ceylon). Rento arranges this for you online.

Is my International Driving Permit (IDP) enough on its own?
