Application Process

Document Submission:
Applicants are required to submit clear, colored copies of the following documents:​

• Passport.
• Front of your international drivers license.​
• Back of your international drivers license license.​(showing the allowed vehicle classes)
• A passport-sized photo of yourself.​

Processing Time:
The application process for a temporary driving permit can be completed within 24 hours. For emergency applications, we can process it within an hour, ensuring you're ready to drive.​

Delivery Options:
We offer delivery of the temporary driving permit to your specified address in Sri Lanka except inside Airport premises. Delivery times may vary based on location.

Fees and Payments:

• Application Fee: An application fee of USD 45.00 is required.​
• Delivery Fee: A standard delivery fee of USD 1.50 applies. Express delivery options are available at an additional cost.​​
• Payment Methods: Payments can be made securely through our website using accepted credit/debit cards or other specified payment methods.​

Cancellation and Refund Policy:

• Refundable Amount: If you cancel your application, you are eligible for a 90% refund of the total amount paid.​
• Non-Refundable Fee: A 10% processing fee will be deducted from the total payment.​​
• Processing Time: Refunds will be processed within 7-10 business days to the original payment method.​

Validity and Usage:

• Permit Validity: International Driving Permit (IDP): Valid for 12 months.​​
• Usage Limitations: The permit is valid only for the vehicle categories specified and must be used in accordance with Sri Lankan traffic laws.​​

Responsibilities and Obligations:

• Compliance: Permit holders must adhere to all local traffic regulations and laws.​​
• Insurance: It is the responsibility of the permit holder to ensure they have appropriate insurance coverage while driving in Sri Lanka.​​​

Important Notice About the Digital Copy:

• Once the application is processed, we will send a digital copy of your temporary driving permit for reference.​
• This digital copy is NOT a legally valid document and cannot be used as an official license for driving.​​​
• You must keep the hard copy of the permit with you at all times while driving to comply with Sri Lankan traffic regulations and avoid any legal issues.
• Failure to present the hard copy of the permit when requested by authorities may result in fines, penalties, or legal consequences.
• Rento will not be responsible for any fines, penalties, or legal issues arising from failure to carry the hard copy of the permit or non-compliance with local laws.

Limitation of Liability:
Our organization is not liable for any accidents, damages, or legal issues arising from the misuse of the temporary driving permit or non-compliance with local laws.​

Amendments:
We reserve the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time. Any changes will be communicated through our official website.

By proceeding with the application, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms and conditions.

Full Refund:
Cancellations made within 48 hours of booking and at least 7 days before the rental start date are eligible for a full refund of the rental fee.

Partial Refund:
Cancellations made after 48 hours of booking but at least 72 hours before the rental start date will receive a partial refund, with 30% of the rental fee withheld as a cancellation fee.

No Refund:
Cancellations made less than 72 hours before the rental start date will not be eligible for a refund.

Factors Affecting Cancellation Fees:

Timing: The closer the cancellation is to the rental date, the lower the refund.

Car Owner’s Policy: Some vehicle owners may have stricter cancellation policies, which will be outlined in the rental agreement.

Special Circumstances: In cases of medical emergencies, flight cancellations, or extreme weather events, a refund may be granted upon providing valid proof.

Delivery Conditions

Meet and Greet:
Standard option: Rento coordinates the pickup and drop-off between the renter and the car owner. Car owner meets the renter at the agreed location (e.g., airport, hotel, or a central meeting point). No additional fees apply unless specified during booking.

Flexibility: Pickup and drop-off times are arranged in advance for a smooth handover.

Delivery & Pickup:
Rento offers flexible pickup and drop-off options across various locations in Sri Lanka, with associated fees displayed during the booking process.

Premium service: Vehicles can be delivered to a specified location (e.g., airport, hotel, or doorstep) for added convenience.

Fees apply: Delivery charges vary based on distance and location. Exact costs will be shown at the time of booking.

Availability: Limited to select locations and subject to owner approval.
